A Weekend just for you

Every day stress from earning a living eight hours a day for five days of labor, paperwork, presentations, clients, and endless meetings leave us feeling tense. Some special people are stressed because of their studies, children, and family, but it is all the same. We all end up feeling tense, distracted, and unhealthy.

If you are like me, you need a weekend just for yourself. Having fun and taking time to unwind may be the best way to spend the weekend.

Go to the beach, golf clubs, or resort to relax. However, if you are short on cash for a plane ticket to paradise, go to the bathroom, bedroom, park, the backyard, or somewhere you are alone. You can still relax completely with simple body-based techniques. Take a Saturday or Sunday to practice relaxation exercises in a healthy and stress free environment, you will feel revitalized and refreshed for the coming weeks ahead. No special equipment is required, since it is centered on the most natural tool of all: your own breath.

One-arm-at-a-time-stress-free techniques

1a. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent and arms at your sides. Draw your tailbone down toward the floor, keeping your chest lifted and shoulders relaxed

1b. Inhale for four counts as you raise your left arm up and out in front of you to shoulder height, palm down. Exhale for four counts as you lower your arm to your side. Breathe slowly and consciously through your nose as you move. Perform the sequence on alternating arms twice, then close your eyes, and repeat two more times.

Stop worrying about life and the feeling of serenity will suddenly relax and distress you. A weekend getaway will help maintain a good and healthy outlook for next week. Smile!
